Friedrich Wilhelm The First's bust features on just Three dates for the elusive Double Thaler, 1851, 1854 & 1855.

With a combined mintage of just over 500,000 coins, these are amongst the more elusive of this North West German state.

The Deutsche Bundesbank Purchasing Power Table gives a purchasing power equivalent of Euro 62 in 2024 money for an 1854-55 example.

Struck in 900 fine silver at the Cassel mint, these examples bear the initials CP on the neck truncation standing for Christoph Pdeuffer, die-cutter.
